For the love of the game

I played last night with the Baltimore Wild.  Before the game, I was exhausted, had left work, went straight to field hockey practice, and then home from practice by 7:45, with a lacrosse game at 8:00.  Hadn’t eaten and had a headache.  I didn’t really feel like going, but strapped it on and left the house.

The Baltimore Wild is an offshoot of the Baltimore Lacrosse Club and is a Masters team (35+) started by John Heiland.  He’s done a good job of assembling some pretty chill guys, not many head cases.  Not the most talented of rosters, but an enjoyable sideline.  I’m really liking being a part of this team.  Most especially, I enjoy playing with Kris Lindh, one of my best friends from childhood that I lost touch with over the years.  Just a great person, and really fun to be playing with him.

So, last night.  We won, 7-3!  And I did well.  2 goals and 4 assists.  Kris assisted one of my goals and I assisted one of his.  And the guys appreciated having me on the team.

We’re not competing for anything but the love of the game.  Told Kris I’ll be back next week.  And I’m looking forward to it.
